If you want to use Spotify or Theater in your Tesla without paying for Premium Connectivity, you can use your phone’s hotspot instead.
The guide below shows how to automatically enable your iPhone hotspot when it connects to your Tesla via Bluetooth.
Preparation
On iPhone:
Settings → Personal Hotspot
- Enable Allow Others to Join
- Enable Maximize Compatibility
Create Automation (Hotspot ON)
- Open Shortcuts
- Go to Automation
- Tap + → Create Personal Automation
- Select Bluetooth
- Choose your Tesla device
- Select Is Connected
- Tap Next
Action
- Add Action → Search Set Personal Hotspot
- Set to Turn On
- Set to Run Immediately
- Disable Ask Before Running
Tesla Setting
In Tesla Wi-Fi settings:
- Enable Stay connected while driving
Optional: Auto Turn OFF
Create a second automation:
Trigger:
- Bluetooth → Tesla → Is Disconnected
Action:
- Set Personal Hotspot → Turn Off
